The MLGBA provides a fun introduction to organized girls basketball, improves athletic skills and gives older girls a chance to play in league competition. Research shows that playing sports provides girls with physical, mental and emotional benefits that last throughout their lifetimes. To give more girls the chance to play sports and gain those benefits, the MLGBA gives a sound foundation for beginners and very strong challenge to older players. Mostly, though, this league is about having fun.

Every MLGBA player is assigned to a team. Each wee, players in grades 2-8 have one weeknight team practice and one weekend game. Some 7th and 8th grade games are played on Sunday. Players in grades 9-12 do not practice. They have hone game each Sunday. The league takes great care to make the teams fair and balanced. Player participation and commitment is essential to the success of the team and the league. If you cannot make the majority of practices and games, please do not sign up for the league.
